Feelin' The Love: Jose Villa Photography

As I mentioned earlier this week, I've sort of developed this little "thing" for photography. I even signed up for a photography class which started yesterday- which I LOVED. I'm even excited about the homework we have... That would be a first!

Speaking of photography, my photographer friend Dana recently introduced me to the gorgeous work of Jose Villa. We were at dinner when she told me about him and I immediately looked him up on my iPhone. And wow...

The photos below are the engagement pictures of actress Tamera Mowry. A good photographer, to me, is one who can make the viewer of the photo feel the same emotions of the people in the photo.

 I'm feelin' the love here...

Pretty right??

Are you feelin' the love??

Chic In The Country

Soooo, I had a really good "date" Saturday night with the latest feature of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. It was just one of those Saturday nights where I didn't feel like doing anything. Do you have those nights?

Anyway, the magazine featured this beautiful home that is located in Madison, Georgia. It encompasses all of my favorite aspects of design. I'm a southern girl, so I love anything country- but not too country. I like a neutral palette that consists of traditional and modern elements. I like lots of different textures, too. A mixture of textures = comfort.

This home hits the spot for me.

Lovely, huh??

7 Things & A Winner

A while back, Natasha of Schue Love graciously gave me the Stylish Blogger award. I was so excited and still am! I was really busy with work at the time, so I didn't get a chance to share "7 Things" about myself. That's a requirement of getting the award ya know! Work has finally calmed down, so here are 7 things...

1. I am from Huntsville, Alabama. That is a surprise to some people- not sure why. The city is big, but not too big, family oriented, and gorgeous (contrary to what some people think about most cities in Alabama). My family still lives there and I miss them dearly. You can read more about my immediate family here

2. My mom and I had the special opportunity to attend not one, but three tapings of the Oprah Show last year. Yes, Oprah is my hero. The first show was a "Friday's Live" show that featured Pink and The Rock. I was about 12 ft away from the stage and it was honestly one of the most exciting experiences of my life. Before the show started, she came out on the stage, with no shoes on, and held a conversation with the audience. Anything was on the table. She answered every question. Loved it! We stood in the standby line for the second show and miraculously made it in. Oprah didn't get through all of the topics during that show, so she taped a second show. Mom and I had the BEST time. I'll always cherish our time together during that trip, and the show and Oprah for the rest of my life.

3. Kim's makeup always looks flawless right?? I would have NO CLUE how to make my face look that good because I don't wear makeup. My grandmother never allowed my mom to wear it and my mom never allowed me to wear it. I begged her for about two weeks in high school to let me wear it, then eventually got tired of asking. I've had my makeup done a few times for photoshoots, but I don't know anything about applying anything other than lip gloss, lipstick, and lip liner-- and sometimes me and the lip liner have issues!!

4. Over the last few months, I have developed this "thing" for photography. I have always loved beautiful photos, but have become interested in learning how to take them myself. I took the photo above of my darling Maxwell. The second photo is one that I took in my living room. I'll be doing a post on it later this week... I enrolled in a photography "101" class this summer and am THRILLED about it! Its the first class that I have taken in FOREVER that has nothing to do with accounting. I'm so excited about learning something new...

5. I'm a little OCD. There, I said it. See how neat that bedroom looks?? That's how neat I like for things to be all the time. I get stressed out when things are out of place. Can't help it. God help me when I have children...

6. I don't like to be "obsessed" with anything on TV, but I admit that I am   obsessed with Bethenny Frankel's reality shows. I love her, her honesty, and her family. It's the one reality show that I can watch over and over again. She just keeps it real and I respect her for that. And if only I could find a husband like Jason!!!! Oh and her Skinnygirl Margarita is SO good! I highly recommend it.

7. I'm a thankful person. I thank God for all of the good, the great, the bad and the horrible things that have happened to me. I've learned from each experience. I'm thankful to all of my dear friends for their love and friendship. I'm thankful to all of you who support me and this blog. Much appreciated!

As a result of winning the award, I now have to pass it on to some other bloggers who are completely deserving of it. My picks are:

Shelli of A' la Mode

Jennifer of Jennifer Nicole

Kimberly of Pink Eggshell

They have beautiful blogs, so check them out!

The Details...

{via}

Well, today is the big day! I have to admit- I don't think I am as excited as some people (like I won't be waking up at 4AM thanks to my DVR), but I am looking forward to seeing the dress and the other little details like the flowers, the rings, the "kiss" and the cake. Loving this rose cake...

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Oh! And don't forget to sign up for my giveaway! The last day to enter is Sunday!

Update: Soooo I watched the wedding when I woke up this morning. Thanks to my DVR, I could fast forward to the good part, like when Kate arrived at the church. GOSH she looked GORGEOUS. I thought her dress was so elegant and not overdone or too poofy. McQueen is a genius! I'm not a veil person, but I thought hers was perfection. I loved Pippa's dress, too! I saw the kiss and ummmmm- they could have done a little better. Anyway, chime in with your thoughts!!

Banana, Banana

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Banana Republic? I would say about 90% of my clothing and accessories come from there. I just love their casual style and most of all, the clothing fits me very well. I love a tailored classic look and I tend to get that with their clothing.

Well they had a BIG sale last weekend and here is my new hobo beauty that I purchased...

The leather is SO incredibly soft and I love the color...

I thought it would go great with this tank and a great pair of dark jeans...

So I bought the tank, too!

I also purchased this dainty little necklace that would be perfect with a crisp white tee...

I love the flecks of turquoise...

All of those items were purchased anywhere between 25% - 40% off!

I hope you are having a great day and don't forget to enter to win a copy of Gwyneth Paltrow's new cookbook! Click here to enter!

My First Giveaway: Gwyneth's Cookbook!!

Hi! I hope all of you had a fabulous Easter weekend!

Over the weekend, I stopped into Barnes & Noble to do some magazine reading for "free" (we all do that right??) and ran across Gwyneth's new cookbook, "My Father's Daughter." I bought it and read it cover to cover as if it were a juicy fiction novel. The recipes look so delicious! They are healthy and mostly made of fresh ingredients. AND the photos are beautiful.

I was going to host a giveaway at a much later date, but I would absolutely love to give this book away NOW! I think it would be a great Mother's Day gift or just something great for you to use and display in your kitchen. It's already on display in my kitchen!

Tulips, Food, Eggs & Hats

There are several things I love about Easter...

I love a table full of tulips...

and yummy food.

I love decorative Easter baskets...

and decorative eggs.

And who can forget the hats? I don't wear big "Easter" hats, but I like to scope out everyone elses hats...

What I love the most is that it reminds me of the sacrifices that Jesus made for me. I'm so thankful.

I hope you have a great weekend and see you next week!
