Winding Down

via
Happy Friday!!! Those are my two favorite words right now. How was your week? I am up to my eyeballs in work and my mother had a minor surgery earlier this week, so this week has been a bit stressful for me. But I am thankful to have a job and that my mother's surgery was successful.

I have been spending my evenings this week just surfing blogs and pics. It helped me wind down after my long days. My favorite find this week was this kitchen. The cabinetry, the hardware, the color, the lighting- well it just made me smile. Beautiful...

I hope you have the most amazing holiday weekend. I will be back on Tuesday with an incredibly delicious 5 ingredient recipe that is perfect for the fall...

Happy weekend.

Style On The Side

Have you ever thought about the fact that your nightstand is often the last thing that you look at before you to go bed and the first thing you look at when you wake up? That is all the more reason why it should be fabulous! All of these nightstands are stylish and contain my personal essentials for a nightstand:

Flowers
If you haven't experienced what it is like to look at flowers when you first wake up, then you are missing out. Buy some flowers for your nightstand- even if they are fake. They will make you feel so much better.

Books
Books create height and add color. They add tons of character to the space, too. The rule of thumb is to place larger books on the bottom and smaller ones on top. It's just that simple.

Pictures and Artwork
If you have a picture that makes you smile, then frame it and place it on your nightstand. If you don't have much room on your nightstand, then simply lean it on wall or hang it on the wall behind the nightstand.

Lighting
Lighting on or by a nightstand serves two purposes: function and style. The lighting should compliment the size of the nightstand and the decor of the room while providing enough light for reading.

Most of this is probably not breaking news for some people, but I hope this is helpful to someone!

What is your nightstand looking like??

Chocolate Cherry Crisp

Fresh cherries will be out of season soon, so I thought I would pass this gorgeousness along...

Heavenly... Todd and Diane of White On Rice Couple are amazing. You can find the recipe on their blog. Do some browsing while you are there. A word of caution: Your mouth might water... :)

Flush Mounts & A Giveaway

Over the weekend, I finally had a chance to crack open the latest issue of BH&G. Inside, I found this beauty...

via
I LOVE everything about this kitchen from the floors to the ceiling. The lighting is what really caught my attention. I rarely see flush mount lighting that I REALLY love- especially in a kitchen. I adore antique brass flush mount lighting in this space. It looks similar to this...

It's simple and the antique brass adds the perfect touch of class. It beautifully compliments the hardware and adds a splash of warmth as well.

The Hicks pendant light over the sink is like the cherry on top...

I have seen this pendant light a million times on blogs and in mags and I never get tired of looking at it. Gorg.

Now I have to tell you something. Both of these fixtures are sold by Visual Comfort Lighting. You wanna know something else? The incredibly talented Melissa of Veranda Interiors is giving away a $200 credit towards the purchase of any Visual Comfort fixture. So head on over to her blog and sign up! Oh and be sure to check out her photos of her GORGEOUS new home while you are there!

Happy Monday!

Addicted To Trenches

I was organizing my coat closet the other day and I found five trench coats. Ok, maybe there were more. I'm kind of embarrassed to say how many... I promise you they are all different in some way. They are just so classy and sassy and I love em'! Yep, I'll be buying another one for the fall. Can't help it. Those bags look appetizing, too, don't they?

ABC's of Me

I love when simple things make me happy. My new $6 Anthro monogrammed mug is the perfect example. I'm trying to decide if I am going to drink out of it or use it as a pen holder in my new office that I am moving into this week!

I'm sharing some other things I love and some little facts about me today over at Marianne's beautiful blog, Style For Living. I am participating in her fun ABC's of Me series, so stop by!

Rosemary & Peach Mojito

I have GOT to make this before peach season is over. I live in Georgia, so there are no excuses... The rosemary is an interesting twist...

Rosemary & Peach Mojito

1 small peach (roughly chopped)
2 ounces white rum
1 ounce Rosemary Simple Syrup (recipe here)
1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
Club soda

In a glass, muddle the peach, Rosemary Simple Syrup, lime juice and rosemary. Add rum and stir. Fill glass with crushed ice and top off with club soda. This recipe makes one. That is probably a good thing. :)
