La Blues...

How was your weekend?? So... My parents went to see the legendary B.B. King in concert last weekend and Friday is four days away (yes I am counting down). So I thinking about "the blues..."

The blue accents in these spaces are quite refreshing. I adore that antique chair in the first pic. That hit of blue tile in that kitchen is just really "pretty" to me. It adds just the right amount of sparkle to the white space. If only I could crawl in that bed with the blue tufted headboard and wake up on Friday just in time for the weekend. And my weekend would certainly include a fabulous party at that gorgeous pool!

Still Thinking Light

My apologies, but being "light" is still on my mind. This has been a great week for me in blogland (I'll explain why next week), but otherwise I have had a busy week. Looking at light spaces gave me that little sliver of cheerfulness that I needed at the end of each day this week. So I am ending my week with a few more "light" images.

What's up for the weekend? I have a few fun things planned including hosting a Sunday dinner for some special friends. Homemade lasagna, fresh corn, fresh bread, good wine- it's gonna be fun.

Vanity Fair

As a little girl, I always wanted a vanity in my bedroom. I just always found them to be so fashionable and "grown up." I never got a vanity, but I never stopped admiring them. 

I'm loving this antique Italian vanity. It's just light and girly. I can picture it in my "grown up" summer home- dream home that is. I love that it could double as a desk, too. What do you think? Do you have a vanity in your bedroom?

Photography 101

I mentioned here that I was taking a photography class this summer. Well I meant spring... Yesterday was actually my last day of class! I loved it! I now know how to use all of the buttons on my camera and have a basic idea of how to take decent pictures.

Below are some photos that I had to turn in for "homework." I don't think I have ever been so excited about having homework! It was easier to meet the requirements of most of the assignments by taking photos of outside elements, so you won't see a lot of pictures of interiors. I practiced taking pics of interiors by shooting my own living room. You can see them here. 

I actually used the wrong setting (which was part of the assignment) when I took the picture of the rose, but I think it still turned out neat.

The following pictures are some shots that I took at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens... 

And you know I had to get some shots of my Maxwell!

Our last homework assignment was to bring in ten of our favorite photos and a sweet treat. So I made these red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese and white chocolate frosting...

The good thing is that they taste fabulous! The bad thing is that I forgot them on my way to class! So they are still in my kitchen saying screaming, "Eat me." Not good. :)

Keepin' It Light

I just wanted to start this week off on a "light" note. I love light and bright spaces. They relax me.

I hope you had a great weekend! Mines was great! Shopping, napping, Pilates, lunch with friends, blogging and baking - good times! The only downsides to my weekend were that it ended and that it was SUPER hot! Let me know how you are!

Isn't This Pretty?

I am completely smitten over this pretty bathroom designed by Mabley Handler. I'm loving the blue subway tile on the walls. The different sizes go perfectly together and they reflect the light beautifully. And that bathtub- stunning.
