A Haven + Links...

Happy Good Friday! I hope you had a great week. I feel like the image above should be something reminiscent of Easter. But that image is very simple, calm and relaxing, which is the type of weekend I wish I was going to have. This weekend will be mostly work and sleep as I am only a few weeks away from a huge deadline with work. So unfortunately I won't get to spend Easter with my family, but I'll certainly make up for lost time later. :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Here are some great links for you...

Thanks to Amy and Gaby for filling in for me this week here on the blog. You can check out their fun posts here and here.

This little series I started on Savor Home's Facebook page keeps me inspired...

Wow and yum...

I've seen lots of good Easter egg DIY's this week, but this one and this one are my favorites...

This little family is just precious and this video proves it...

12 Tumblrs for spring inspiration...

Her website is lovely and of course her home is, too...

I love her bags, her story and dream of going to her beautiful store...

Vanilla-Orange Vodka Tonic

Does that look fantastic or what?? My special and talented guest today made it and I invited her here today to share it with you. Please welcome my friend Amy of Your Southern Peach. One of the perks of blogging is actually getting to meet wonderful, talented people who share your same interests. Amy is one of those people. She is a really sweet person, a great photographer and also really good at making cocktails! Let me let her tell you about this one!
................................................

I'm so happy to be standing in for Tiffany today! I've had the pleasure of hanging with her "in real life" and she is such a beautiful person. We both share a passion for food and photography and became fast friends after spending several hours chatting about life and blogging. A few weeks ago, Tiffany posted about clear concoctions, so I decided to create one of my own. They really are beautiful and a great way to welcome the warmer temperatures of spring. The most important thing to remember when it comes to colorless cocktails is to garnish, garnish, garnish! Whether you use a piece of fruit or some fresh herbs, that little pop of color is like the bow on a present or the icing on the cake. Cheers to spring and thanks again for having me Tiffany!

Inspired By...

Happy Monday my friends... I hope these last two days were good to you. I worked most of the day on Saturday, went to brunch on Sunday, got in bed afterwards and pretty much stayed there the rest of the day napping and finding inspiration by reading magazines and net surfing - all while watching a Golden Girls marathon. I heart the Golden Girls... All of that means my camera never came out of it's bag. So I am substituting these gorgeous, clean, crisp images for my personal images today. I hope that's ok... :)

Pancakes + Links...

Can you hear me screaming over here? That would be me screaming with excitement because it's Friday. I have worked more hours this week than I care to mention, so today is a very welcome day! What's up for the weekend? Other than a few hours of work, I'll be breaking my normal eating habits at a new brunch spot which will be followed by a LONG nap, doing some online shopping for spring and continuing to read this book that I mentioned here last week. It is SO good, personable and extremely informative on so many levels!

Here are some good links for you! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Since Google Reader is going away (totally not cool), you can follow Savor Home here via Bloglovin or here via Feedly. You can import your Google Reader into each of those platforms!

Speaking of pancakes, make someone happy by making these...

This CUTE top is on my Target shopping list...

Her blog's aesthetic is totally different than mine, but I love reading it and enjoyed this post about her journey...

My friend is a fashionable full-time working mom who has a gift for spotting GREAT deals when it comes to fashion and decor. She just started a new blog to tell you all about it...

Could you live here? I certainly could...

Kitchen Envy...

The lovely Annemarie of Brunch At Saks introduced me to the most wonderful architect, Tim Barber yesterday. She posted one of his home renovations and I instantly went to his website to see more. Just when I think all white kitchens are starting to look alike, I run across another one that stuns me. I love the high ceilings and the industrial lighting here that offsets the clean lines of the cabinets. A swing door, complete with a peep hole has now been added to my kitchen wish list. I love the touch of professionalism that those doors add to this space. As a person who is starting to collect more than her fair share of food styling props, I'd die for all of that storage space, too...

So lovely...

White Wine Fruit Salad

So I have an extremely simple, spring-like, fresh and easy to make little dessert for you today. Fresh, tart fruit salads often take up prime real estate in my refrigerator, especially this time of year. I make them almost weekly, so I'm often searching for different ways to make them so that I don't get bored with them. I was ECSTATIC when I found this recipe since it combines two of my favorite things: white wine and fruit! The combination of the wine and sugar makes this tangy, sweet dressing that brings the fruit to life. I used Sauvignon Blanc (my favorite wine), but you could use whatever white wine you like. I think this would be perfect for a simple, yet elegant little dessert for a spring dinner party or wedding shower.

Weekend In Four Pics...

I can't believe it's already MONDAY! I need another day please! I hope you had a good weekend. My weekend started with a fantastic sushi dinner here and ended in bed last night watching Master Class on OWN. I LOVE that show. So insightful. In between those two relaxing things, life was busy. I worked,  ran errands, fought through a terrible migraine, shot tomorrow's recipe, cleaned up and bought my first pair of sneakers in six years. Yep, SIX years! I'm not a huge fan of that much color, but had to choose those colorful sneakers because they were the only ones left in my size. But they are SO comfortable and I see why that particular style is so popular. If you buy them, note that they run really small. I had to go up one whole shoe size!

While I was out running errands, I carried my new BKR water bottle with me. I love it because it's glass, which means I don't have to worry so much if I leave it in a warm car. BKR is a great company that focuses on green living and charitable giving. You can read more about the company here

Oh and one more thing... I finally broke down and treated myself to a VITAMIX this weekend!! Where has that thing been all my life?? I made a few smoothies with it over the weekend and loved it! It's 1,000 times better than my old blender. A review and recipe is certainly in the works for a future blog post! If you use a Vitamix, what do you like to make with it?

Happy Monday!

70 Degrees + Links...

Are you as happy as I am that it is Friday??!! I'm quite thrilled. This has been a really busy work week for me and I feel like I could nap for hours! I could do just that all weekend, but unfortunately these next two days won't quite be like that. I'll be working, running a ton of errands and hoping to spend a few hours outdoors enjoying the sunny, 70 degree weather we are supposed to have all weekend. I'm very excited about that!

Here are some good links for you to enjoy during what I hope is a great weekend for you!

I'm so excited to be the food contributor of my brother's new lifestyle webmag! I'm so proud of him!

This makes me thrilled for spring!

The walls at this birthday party are just priceless!

This is also priceless...

So very true...

A complete breakdown of spring closet organization...

The older I get, the more obsessed I become with healthy, natural eating and living, so I can't wait to get this book in the mail...

ALL THINGS: NAVY

01. Shop Terrain Ticking Stripe Apron | 02. Marc Jacobs Small Khaki Tote | 03. Splendid Striped Cotton Dress | 04. Vix Navy Bikini Top & Bottom | 05. Faux Pyrite Bezel Stud Earrings | 06. J.Crew Mila Ballet Flats | 07. Tory Burch Logo Double Snap Cuff | 08. Heather Hawkins Two Layered Necklace |  | 09. Kate Spade Stripe Sun Hat

I know that warmer weather is on the way, which means that lighter colors for the most part get the most attention. But for some reason, navy always gets my attention just as much as any other color associated with spring. Navy paired with a little splash of white or gold is classic and creates a fresh look that I am SO looking forward to over the next few months.

See anything here you like?? I would love to have that tote and apron in my life... :)

Weekend In Four Pics

Hi there! I hope the weekend was good to you! Aside from working, this weekend I...

 * Bought some really bright pink roses for my nighstand. This week is going to be crazy busy, so I need some extra color in my life...

* Had a fantastic dinner here with one of my really good friends that I hadn't seen in almost 3 years. She is in law school and we don't get to talk often. But if you would have heard our hilarious conversations during dinner, you would have thought we talked every single day. I LOVE moments like that...

* Used those veggies to make this chicken and brown rice stew, a one-pot meal that Gwyneth posted on Goop last week. It is so comforting, so easy to make, and good for you. I know I'll make it again and again and again...

* Read the new issue of Kinfolk, which focuses on the art of ice cream. I then felt compelled to go to a local ice cream shop for a snack. So I did...

* Said some not so nice things under my breath as I was setting my clocks FORWARD... An hour of sleep - gone. You know how I feel about sleep! :)

I hope you have a great week!

Light + Simple + Links...

Happy Friday friends! I hope you had a great week. What's up for the weekend? I'll be attending a much needed Pilates class, working on a diaper cake for a good friend and doing some real work - blah. Speaking of work, I should tell you that it will taking up lots of my time for the next six weeks or so. So if there are periods of time where it's a bit silent around here during the next few weeks, know that I haven't forgotten about you! But I do have a few guests (really good ones, too) lined up, so I promise I won't leave you completely empty-handed.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Here are some good links for you!

A few interesting blog columns that I plan to check out this weekend...

Speaking of columns, lots of bloggers have a Five Things column or have done a Five Things post, but this one is probably one of my favorites...

Did you know about this?

The new Style Me Pretty Living site has arrived! And it's pretty...

I love this before and after...

I loved her on The Bachelorette and now she has her own lifestyle blog!

I felt like I was reading an article straight out of Vogue when I read this post. She is such a talented blogger I tell ya...

Four Spaces...

Four spaces that I'm dying over at the moment. I'm dying over them because lately I have been having those moments where I wish I could just start over again in my house. I do love what I have. Really I do. But there are days when I wish I had the resources- and the time- to just start all over again. If that were the case, these are the looks I would go for. I love the vintage accessories in that bathroom. And something about clean, folded white towels makes me happy... I can't even begin to tell you how much I love that kitchen. I could cook and photograph food in there all day. All day! I don't have a family yet, but one day I will. When I do, I'll take an accessorized mudroom that looks just like that. Oh and if you ever see a beautiful armoire like that one in the last pic, shoot me an e-mail. My bedroom would love to have it. So pretty...

Easy Chocolate-Almond Croissants

So, for the last oh... six years or so, I have had a bit of a dilemma. It's well established that I love chocolate. So about six years ago, I was watching one of Giada's shows and she started talking about Nutella. She said that it was a wonderful chocolate hazelnut spread that she used to spread on top of toast that she would eat in the mornings for breakfast as a child. She said it was the Italian version of peanut butter. I thought OH MY GOSH!! Where has that stuff been all my life?? So I hopped in the car and immediately went to the grocery store to buy some Nutella.

I got home and put a slice of bread in the toaster. I opened the fresh jar of Nutella and my mouth watered. It smelled SO good! I put a smooth layer of the Nutella on the toast and took a bite...

You won't believe what happened next...

A Quick Thank You...

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Other than photographing these flowers that will help me get through a busy week ahead and tomorrow's recipe, I didn't take any photos. I was either resting, watching the occasional snow flurries or having too much fun. I had a wonderful time at my friend's housewarming party. She and her husband have worked so hard for their dream home and they finally have the home they have always wanted. Their home is absolutely gorgeous and it was so fun to celebrate with them.

But before the party, I had a fantastic meeting with Anna about my new blog design. We started talking about "branding," which is a term I NEVER in a million years thought I would use when I started this blog over two years ago. But I'm doing it. I'm rebranding this blog and seriously thinking about what I want this blog to look like and be about in the future. It is so freaking exciting and so unexpected! It is going to be really beautiful and I can't wait for you to see!

I have you to thank for my excitement. If it weren't for you I'd pretty much be talking to myself, which would still be somewhat therapeutic, but not nearly as much fun. Thank you so much for stopping by,  reading my ramblings and leaving your thoughts. It means a lot to me and I thought I would just take today to let you know.

Beams + Links...

Hi there!! It's Friday! YAY! Sorry I'm a bit excited right now and I can't contain myself. Right now (as I'm writing this post), it's late Thursday night (last night) and I just met one of my FAVORITE bloggers. I just met Deb Perelman, author of Smitten Kitchen. She did a Q&A and book signing here in Atlanta last night. She is so humble and so sweet and still so amazed at how she got where she is today. Meeting her was the perfect start to my weekend.

Speaking of the weekend, it's jam packed! I'll be working a bit, working on my new blog design and I'm helping a sweet friend with her housewarming party. I'm also hoping to make this really good recipe that I found earlier this week. Chocolate is involved, so you know I'm excited. Oh and yes, I need a nap. :)

Here are some links for you to enjoy for the weekend! See ya next week.

Thank you SO much for your comments on yesterday's post. So helpful! I think I've made my decision. I'll share it with you as soon as I get it.

I'm always inspired by her work...

Café du Monde in your kitchen... These look SO good...

I need to do one of these ASAP...

I just discovered this blog and I LOVE it!

I've never met her before, but I've prayed for her all week...

A great round-up on photography tips for bloggers!
